Honda CBR 650F Bike Review
Presented at the EICMA 2013 in Milan, the Honda CBR 650F has captured the hearts of many bikers. Inspired from the CB650F, the Honda is the creation of a young team of engineers as a sports oriented bike. The result is incredible, especially if you consider that the new 650F can be used by riders of all backgrounds and in almost every type of setting.
Granted, over the past few years, there has been a tendency towards designing ever-larger capacities for the mid-size ranges. A quick look at the new Honda 650F is enough to understand that the automaker decided to take a different road. While some may say it resembles the 1100 cc Activa, the 650F has a practical design featuring crowned headlights and starting clear-glass turn indicators.
Powered by a 649 cc DOHC engine and featuring liquid cooled inline cylinders, the strong motor has been paired with a six speed transmission. Moreover, the heart of the Honda 650F has been placed in a Twin Spar steel frame, so performance and first class riding are guaranteed. Famous for their engines, Honda ensured that its 649 cc provides faster revving, while offering low midrange torque at the same time. As far as the suspensions are concerned, drivers report an excellent action with accurate front-end feedback and steering.
As previously mentioned, the frame is neither too rigid, nor too soft; it’s perfect for what you might need for everyday riding. Thanks to its relatively large wheelbase, the 650F is quick and responsive, meaning it’s exactly what you would expect from a bike in this class. The bike also features a rear shock with spring-preload adjustability and a 41 mm Fork, all that for an impeccable riding and rock-solid handling. Take note that while the steel frame is fairly strong, it is not excessively stiff for those who prefer smooth, casual driving.
The 650F comes in a middleweight build and has been designed for a variety of roles from simple travelling to canyon carrying. Not only is it a balanced sports bike, but it also has an excellent fuel consumption, namely 59.3 mpg according to various European tests.
